Fair Work First Policy
Last updated: May 30, 2025
At Dornoch BID Ltd, we are committed to embedding the principles of Fair Work First across our organisation and partnerships. Although we currently have no direct employment, we apply Fair Work practices in all aspects of our operations, ensuring fairness, respect, and opportunity for everyone involved in delivering our projects.
Our Commitments:
- Effective Voice
We provide channels for potential staff, volunteers, and board members to be heard. This includes open-door communication with the BID Manager, regular board meetings, and inclusive project discussions where all ideas and concerns can be raised. - Opportunity
We create opportunities for local people and businesses by commissioning local suppliers where possible, offering fair access to contracts, and supporting community participation in our events and activities. - Security
We avoid inappropriate use of zero-hours contracts. Any employment or contracting will be based on clarity of terms, reasonable notice periods, and mutual understanding of responsibilities. - Respect
We foster a respectful and inclusive culture that values all contributions. Our public events are open and welcoming to all, and we are committed to equality, diversity, and accessibility. - Fulfilment
We support development by encouraging training, mentoring, and volunteer growth. Project delivery offers real-life experience, and we seek to recognise and value those contributions through public acknowledgment and personal support. - Real Living Wage
We are committed to paying at least the Real Living Wage for any staff or contractors we employ, and we actively encourage partner organisations and suppliers to do the same.
Dornoch BID aims to set an example in fair work practice by ensuring our projects not only benefit the local economy but do so in a way that promotes dignity, fairness, and opportunity for all.
