Ripples of Change – Exhibition Preview
Come and see Ripples of Change, a collaboration that transforms waste materials salvaged by Britton Scotland into vibrant, accessible artworks. Eco-artivist Francesca Busca reimagines the overlooked and unwanted, echoing the colours and textures of the Scottish landscape — shaped from the very materials that threaten it.
We are excited to share a preview of Ripples of Change, our collaboration with eco‑artivist and waste mosaicist Francesca Busca.
This project began with a simple but powerful recognition: the Project One Wave network has the exponential ability to amplify our efforts, proving that collective action can accelerate change in ways no single organisation could achieve alone. Using waste provided by Amy, Francesca has transformed the overlooked and unwanted into artwork — each piece carrying a story of responsibility, creativity, and possibility.
Drawn from her series The Maremnants, the works channel the colours and textures of Scotland through their unlikely counterpart: synthetic waste. These discarded materials now mimic seagrass beds, mossy glens, tidal movement, and coastal textures — imitating nature while revealing how deeply plastic pollution has infiltrated it.
By echoing the ripples formed when land‑made objects enter the sea, Francesca pierces the barrier of understanding between the terrestrial and marine worlds. Each piece becomes both gesture and catalyst — a reminder that even the smallest disturbance can spark empathy, awareness, and change. These underwater forms are reimagined as landscapes we know and textures we recognise, inviting us to reconnect with what we’ve forgotten and acknowledge what we risk losing.
Today, we are offering a first look at a selection of affordable, entry‑level works. These pieces are intentionally accessible – designed to invite more people into the conversation, not place sustainability on a pedestal. They reflect teamwork, collaboration, and creative thinking, showing how meaningful change can start at any scale.
Every part of this collaboration has been run remotely, using phone calls, emails, and couriers, carefully considered to be as carbon‑friendly as possible. From London to the Highlands, the journey of these works is part of the message: progress doesn’t have to be loud or wasteful to be impactful.
Ripples of Change is about momentum — small actions creating wider impact. This preview is just the beginning.
