Sutherland Christian Convention
The Sutherland Convention Committee comprises members from several denominations, including ministers and lay people, all committed to bringing believers together around the faithful teaching of God’s Word, to strengthen unity across denominations in Christ, and to equip the Church for gospel witness in our communities and for the generations to come.
Their annual gathering will take place over three evenings from the 5th to the 7th September at Dornoch Free Church. This year’s guest speaker is Rev. David Scott from Inches East Church of Scotland.
Born and brought up in Edinburgh, David came to trust and follow Jesus as Saviour and Lord through going along to a Scripture Union group at school and to SU camps.
Having studied Economics and International Relations at Aberdeen University, he taught English in Kenya as a volunteer for a year and then was employed as a Youth Worker by the YMCA in Aberdeen for two years.
Sensing a call to ministry, he returned to university to complete a theology degree and subsequently has served churches in Invergordon and Dundee before being called to Inshes Church in 2013 – now, since 2023, Inshes East.
He is married to Susan, and they have 3 children, 7 grandchildren and Poppy – a Westie!.
Among his interests are any sport with a ball, reading and walking.
