VJ Day 80th Anniversary Celebrations
On the 15th August, Dornoch will join with communities across the globe to celebrate VJ Day and 80th anniversary of the end of World War II.
Run by East Sutherland Rescue Association (ESRA) and veteran volunteers, there will be a varied programme of events throughout the day, which everyone is warmly welcome to attend.

9am – Flag Raising and laying of the Memorial Wreath, Dornoch War Memorial, with a few words from the Revd Fr Simon Scott from St Finnbarr’s.
Throughout the Day – Origami crane making at the Library.
5:30pm – Commitment to Peace service at St Finnbarr’s Church, everyone welcome. Come along and light a candle.
6:30pm – Bell Ringing at Dornoch Cathedral, St Finnbarr’s and Dornoch Primary School.
Free evening of entertainment at the ESRA Boat Shed, Dornoch Beach. Bring your 1940’s style fancy dress!
