FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Here’s a list of the most common questions we get asked about the Dornoch BID and becoming a member. If your question isn’t answered below, please get in touch.
The Dornoch BID (Business Improvement District) is a local, business-led non-profit organisation in Dornoch, designed to improve and promote the local trading environment.
Funded by a levy paid by eligible local businesses, it runs for a five-year term, delivering a Business plan aimed at boosting tourism, marketing the town, and giving businesses a collective voice.
Joining the Dornoch BID gives local businesses a collective voice, marketing support through platforms like the This Is Dornoch website, and joint leverage to address shared economic challenges, such as challenging unfavourable non-domestic rates classifications. This will ultimately help boost year-round footfall and tourism in the area.
Your support will enable your business to benefit from and deliver a range of projects, such as those set out in our annual letter.
There are two types of membership:
Levy-paying Members: Eligible businesses that are included in the business plan and vote in the BID ballot.
Opt-In Members: Businesses that aren’t automatically included via levy, but can opt in and receive the same benefits.
You can join at any point during the membership year and your membership fee will be started at that point for 12 months.
The BID area boundary is the geographic boundary of the IV25 postcode area, but businesses out with the 1V25 postcode are welcome to join.
If your business is outside the boundary area, you can still apply for opt-in membership.
Just send us an email expressing your interest, and we will be in touch with the next steps.
